Yes, this popular saying has everything to do with the reality of lions. So much so that some have been observed eating 40 kilos of meat at once. As food is not easily available in nature, the lion makes the most of it when he has dinner. This appetite for eating what you can at once allows the animal to go up to seven days without eating, if you have no other option. But the large amount of food is not the same for the species that lives in a zoo: in this case, they eat between 5 and 6 kilos of meat a day.
