Read this poem, written by Manuel Bandeira:
I left my land as a boy.
I spent thirty years away from her.
From time to time they said to me:
Your land is completely changed,
It has avenues, skyscrapers…
It is a beautiful city today!
My heart got tiny.
I have finally reviewed my Recife.
It's actually completely changed.
It has avenues, skyscrapers.
It is now a beautiful city.
Devil take who made my land beautiful!
