The competition has municipal, state and regional stages. In the end, 32 students are nominated as winners of the national stage. Teachers are also rewarded.
The schools have until the 19th of August to submit the texts to the PLO jury. In 2019, the OLP will honor the writer Conceição Evaristo. Another novelty is the inclusion of the documentary genre for students in the first and second years of high school.
The other categories are: poem (fifth year), literary memories (sixth and seventh year), chronicle (eighth and ninth year) and opinion article (third year of high school).
Teachers also participate in the contest through the report of practice, in which they register their experiences with carrying out the workshops, describing learning, discoveries, challenges and reflections.
Teachers will gain an international pedagogical immersion. The students, on the other hand, will receive cultural trips throughout the Brazilian territory. In addition, the winning students' schools will receive a large collection to reinforce their libraries.
