According to the auction announcement, at least 462 active stations are needed for the first phase, with a deadline established by the end of September.

For this reason, the Monitoring Group for the Implementation of Solutions for Interference Problems (Gaispi) linked to Anatel, responsible for activating the signal, immediately decided to launch the 5G signal in the big capital paulista.
It is estimated that 5G signal coverage will initially reach ¼ of the urban area of São Paulo. The agency also informed that 226 stations of the Fixed Satellite Service (SFS) installed equipment interference prevention measures and performed tests to confirm interference-free operation.
The 5G signal can be 20 times faster than the currently used technology, 4G. The activation of the technology in São Paulo occurred after its arrival in the cities of Brasília, Belo Horizonte, João Pessoa and Porto Alegre.
The notice for the 5G auction stipulates that the infrastructure for activating the signal should have taken place in all capitals by the end of July. However, Gaispi asked Anatel to extend the deadline by 2 months to overcome logistical issues that delayed the delivery of equipment brought from China.
Smartphones approved by Anatel will automatically be compatible with the new 5G. The Agency's latest list shows that at least 71 smartphone models are already able to offer the new signal.
The most diversified product portfolio is that of Samsung, which has 28 models. Soon after comes the Motorola brand, with 14 models; Apple, with 9 models; Xiaomi, with 7 different models and; another 13 devices from other brands.
