The type of education has Elementary School classes for those interested from 15 years old, and with High School classes for those who are at least 18 years old.

These are face-to-face classes, from Monday to Friday, or Distance Learning (EAD), four hours a day, from the Brazilian public school network and adopted by some private networks.

The modules of 6 months each are equivalent to the years and grades of regular education.

To attend the EJA in the fundamental education modality you need to be from 15 years old and to enroll in classes to obtain certification in Secondary Education you need to be over 18 years old. The deadline for completing the course is 2 years for the fundamental and 18 months for the medium.

Who can do the EJA?

The Law of Guidelines and Bases (LDB), of 1996, determined in article 38 that the minimum age to take supplementary exams is 15 years old for Elementary School and 18 years old for High School. From this decision, it is assumed that being able to take the final exams, the student can also attend EJA from these ages.

How do I register for the EJA?

The provision of EJA courses is free and the responsibility of the states. Each state can organize different certification systems, that is, ways of legally recognizing that a person has completed Elementary or High School. Documentation will depend on the school, but usually personal documents and school records to prove the level you reached. Check with a public school in your area for more detailed information.

The ENCCEJA (National Examination for the Certification of Youth and Adult Skills) is a test that can be used by State Education Institutions that sign cooperation agreements with the federal government to certify the completion of Elementary Education and Average.

Can those who took EJA or supplementary courses go to college?

He can. There is no problem to enter Higher Education after having done the EJA. The important thing is that you have actually completed high school in a school authorized by the Department of Education, obtaining a valid certificate of completion.
