Surely you've heard the expression “at the letter” when someone understands only what was __________ and not what is implied.
For example, the phrase “falling off a horse” means making a mistake about something, but taking it “literally” would be to think that someone actually fell while riding a horse.
But did you know that lyrics really have foot and other parts? The study of the foot and the parts of letters is called Typography.
Just as living beings are separated by races, families and classes, letters are organized by their compositional structures defined in projects elaborated over 500 years ago.
Called Types (hence the name Typography), the letters can be separated into four categories: Gothic, Roman, grotesque and scriptural.
