Marianne Peretti is a French-Brazilian plastic artist, considered the most important stained glass artist in Brazil. She was known for being the only woman to integrate the team of artists of architect Oscar Niemeyer in the construction of Brasília.
Daughter of a historian from Pernambuco and a French model, Marie Anne Antoinette Hélène Peretti was born in Paris, on December 13, 1927.
Since she was a little girl, Marianne only thought about art. She was expelled from two schools because she always fled from classes to paint. At age 15, he started attending the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs and later on, the Académie de la Grande Chaumière. At that time, she made some money doing cartoons for newspapers.
She met her husband during a boat trip between Europe and Rio de Janeiro. She married him and moved to São Paulo in 1953. In his baggage, he already had artistic prestige: in his first solo exhibition, the previous year, he received much praise from the critics and even from the surrealist genius Salvador Dalí.
In Brazil, Marianne's work was gaining ground and recognition – she participated in biennials and held individual and collective exhibitions in Brazilian capitals. He also created sculptures, stained glass and reliefs for public buildings and private homes.
