The Ministry of Education released BRL 963.92 million to the Fund for the Maintenance and Development of Basic Education and Valorization of Education Professionals (Fundeb) and to complement the payment of the national teaching floor for December 2018.
For Fundeb alone, R$ 867.53 million are foreseen. Created by Constitutional Amendment No. 53/2006 and regulated by Law No. 11,494/2007, the Fund is formed mainly by resources from taxes and transfers from the states, the Federal District and counties.

The Union complements Fundeb with a portion of federal resources to ensure that, in each unit of the federation, the investment amount per student reaches the nationally defined minimum.
As for the Union's supplementary portion for the payment of the basic salary of teachers, by the education systems, R$ 96.39 million were allocated. Currently, the base corresponds to a salary of R$ 2,455.35 for a 40-hour week.
The resources were passed on to the National Education Development Fund (FNDE), an autarchy linked to the MEC that makes the transfer to the federated entities. The information is from the Ministry of Education.
