Parsemage involves creating pictures by putting chalk dust or charcoal in water, then placing paper underneath and lifting it up.

THEME: Creating screens using chalk dust

YEAR: 9th grade

GOALS:

• This technique allows students to create images and even pictures through chalk dust.

MATERIAL REQUIRED:

• Crayons (of different shades);
• fine grater;
• Tray with water;
• A heavy paper;
• Small bowls.

INTRODUCTION:

Give a brief introduction to abstract art, then explain that students can work individually or in small groups to create a figure using crayons.

DEVELOPMENT:

1. First ask students to grate different colors of chalk and place each one in a bowl. Instruct students to sprinkle the chalk in the water.
2. As part of the second step, they must insert a piece of paper under the dust created by the fiz and lift.

3. The chalk will “stick” to the paper and form abstract designs. It is also possible to spin the paper in water and create different designs.
4. Coal is also an element that can be used to replace chalk.
