A little over a month before the exams, those enrolled in the National High School Exam (Enem 2018) viewed confirmed changes for this year's edition. The most recent concerns the score assigned to texts that violate human rights and a rigorous system for detecting fraud attempts.
Last Friday (28), the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep) released the Enem 2018 Writing Booklet. This is the manual that provides guidance on the correction of texts, in addition to what is or is not allowed in the prepared essays.

The novelty that took the candidates by surprise was the exclusion of the item “disrespect for human rights” as one of the reasons for zeroing the essay. The measure complies with the court decision handed down in 2017 and, in fact, has been running since last year's edition. However, the candidate must keep in mind that the attitude does not guarantee him the maximum grade. Why?
According to the Writing Guide, two moments mentioned the violation of human rights: reasons for the zero grade and rules of the five competences. Each one yields a maximum of 200 points and the final grade is the sum of all of them. In the fifth section, it states “developing an intervention proposal for the problem addressed that respects human rights”.
That is, if the candidate includes measures that violate human rights in his intervention proposal, he may receive a lower score in the respective competence. Returning to the question about the zero score for the essay, what are the criteria considered by the manual valid for the 2018 edition? The list follows below:
Also last week, the Ministry of Education (MEC) authorized that 11 million Enem 2018 test books be distributed by the Post Office. The exams were distributed in 70,000 pouches in a sealed truck accompanied by cars from the 4th Army Battalion of Osasco.
The 5.5 million subscribers will have a security system that has been expanded by five times, in addition to electronically sealed pouches. The Director of Management and Planning at Inep, Eunice Santos, confirmed that the number of electronic point detectors is five times the number of the previous edition, guaranteeing equality among participants.
Last Thursday (27), the evidence was sent to the recipient municipalities by air and land. Initially, the notebooks are stored at Correios facilities until they are sent to the application locations. Another novelty for 2018 is the application process for reapplication of the Enem.
Now, the candidate will only be able to do so through the participant's page and no longer over the phone, as was done until last year. The student who proves damage at the time of the test may request a reapplication within five days from November 11. The tests will be reapplied on December 18th and 19th, considering the last grade obtained.
The Enem 2018 tests will be applied on November 4th and 11th. On the first day, participants will answer questions about languages (45), human sciences (45) and writing. The tests will start at 1:30 pm with doors open at 12:00 pm, closed at 1:00 pm and the exams end at 7:00 pm.
On the second day of tests, it will be the turn of questions about natural sciences (45) and mathematics (45). The tests will also start at 1:30 pm following the same opening and closing times as the gates. However, exams must be completed by 6:30 pm, that is, half an hour earlier than the previous Sunday.
