Due to the high demand from those interested in obtaining protective glasses, the Planetarium implemented a strict procedure.
The items will only be distributed to those who participate in specific training, scheduled to take place at the Dragão do Mar Auditorium during the afternoon of Saturday (14).
Training is essential to ensure observer safety, as observing directly The annular solar eclipse without proper protection can result in serious damage to vision, as previously stated.
The Planetarium informs that the annular eclipse is scheduled to be observed at around 4:30 pm in Fortaleza. Therefore, it is necessary to arrive at the location a little earlier to be instructed in observation.
After receiving the necessary guidance, participants will have the opportunity to purchase protective glasses and choose their preferred location to admire the phenomenon. The Dragão do Mar walkway is one of the recommended spots for this unique experience.
The distribution of the glasses is the result of a special collaboration between the Planetarium and other technological institutions.
Next to the Planetarium, there is the Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project from the United States, the educational organization Farias Brito and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), enabling safe and educational observation of the event astronomical.
Registration to purchase the glasses is available at Planetarium website since 12pm last Wednesday (11) and will be open until the glasses run out.
