Known as Rainha das Águas Minerales, Paraíba do Sul is a hydro-mineral resort located in the central region of the state of Rio de Janeiro, 135 km from the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
With a predominantly mountainous terrain, the city stands out for its ecotourism. However, its strongest tourist attractions are linked to religion and history, due to its exuberant historical collection. The city offers tours in carriages and a small motorized train through the city centre.
The Estrada Real Train travels 14 km of pure culture and history, but is currently undergoing maintenance.
The city also has museums, art galleries, squares and historic bridges, such as the Ponte da Paraíba which, inaugurated in 1857, is supported by massive pillars in carved stonework.
The unusual Botequim da Corte is an old railway car that houses a bar with typical food and live music. Paraíba do Sul is also marked by its diverse cultural manifestations.
Among famous religious festivities such as Festa do Patroeiro da Cidade, Caminhada da Fé and Festa de Santo Antônio, the city also organizes events with other types such as Café, Cachaça and Chorinho, Tiradentes Party, National Motorcyclists Meeting, among others.
