Mario Quintana Born on July 30, 1906, in the city of Alegrete, in Rio Grande do Sul, he died at the age of 88, in 1994, leaving a great poetic legacy. Already in his childhood he demonstrated that he was a great forerunner in literary art, he was literate in his own home and at the age of 7 he already knew how to speak Frances.
In 1919, Mario Quintana was enrolled in a military school in Porto Alegre and in the same year he started to produce his first literary works, they were published by the magazine of the school.
With this perspective on life, and with things flowing on the right path at the military college, the first hurdle in the writer's life came, Mario found himself sick and had to interrupt his studies at school, but nothing was lost, with the departure of the institution, Mario began working at Livraria Globo, this nationally renowned bookstore, working in this publishing house the writer met people of great importance, we have as an example the writer Mansueto Bernardi
Unfortunately, another barrier arose in the writer's life, he stayed at the job for only 3 months, given this reality and with no options present in the moment, Mario Quintana returned to his hometown and went to work with his father in the pharmacy, after some time, Mario's parents Quintana died, leaving him totally lost and not knowing what to really do from then on, with no defined profession and no cash.
With this scenario and facing difficulties, Mario decided to return to Porto Alegre, began working in the editorial office of Jornal Estado do Rio Grande, but unfortunately the tide was out for a fish in the writer's life, the newspaper had to close its doors after a year of work, with that, Mario felt lost again.

Faced with so many works of great relevance in the literary world, Mario Quintana only became aware of it in 1966, it is in that year that his works gain national-level knowledge, later Mario wins the Fernando Chinaglia Award from the Brazilian Union of Writers, this award occurred through his great work “Antologia Poética”, and he did not stop there, in the same year he received great honors from the Brazilian Academy of Letters, deserved isn't it?
