THE white cockroach or in English (White cockroach) it does exist and they are not as rare as many people think.
Found a white cockroach in your home, neighborhood or work? don't be scared, although weird are not that rare. The truth is that most species of cockroaches at some point in their lives are in this state, as they change their "skin".
So if it's so common, why don't you see white cockroaches or albino cockroaches everywhere?
Index
It is important to emphasize that so far no species of cockroach has been documented or found that fits the definition of albinism.
Albinism is a genetic condition that affects an organism's ability to produce enough of the pigment melanin, the material that gives color to skin, hair and eyes. There are many levels of albinism and it does not always result in noticeable non-pigmentation of the skin and hair, but it almost always affects vision.
We cannot diagnose something like albino just by taking into account the color of your skin. In fact this can be done with a simple eye exam. Thus, it is possible to state that albinism is not a genetic condition that affects the cockroaches.
The real cause of a cockroach's white appearance is that when cockroaches change, they don't just lose their outer shell, but they also lose most of the pigmentation in their bodies, which must then be replaced.
This is a chemical reaction that takes place within the body, usually taking a few hours to completely restore pigmentation. Pigmentation not only colors their bodies, it can affect their circadian rhythms, or biological clocks.
But what happens next? The exoskeleton will begin to harden and regain normal color within the next few minutes, and life will soon return to normal.
See too: bones of the human body.
Cockroaches are insects and as such they have a exoskeleton.
exoskeleton – In zoology, the tough but flexible cuticle that covers the body of many animals is called the exoskeleton and protists, providing protection for the internal organs, support for the muscles and also preventing the loss of Water.
The outer shell of insects is made of chitin, a proteinaceous substance similar to keratin that forms our hair and nails in humans.
Unlike fish and other mammals, exoskeletons do not grow with the animal. That's why all insects need to get rid of their skin at some point if they are to grow bigger.
While it's not very common to find one, it happens more often than you might think.
When a white cockroach is in this process of transformation, it chooses, for its own safety, dark refuges and depths. In the presence of a possible threat or disturbance, she can come out of hiding.
This way, you can find one in your home, work, neighborhood, etc.
Pest control professionals find this insect more often, as they apply treatments in refuge areas. This greatly disturbs them during the process, driving them out of hiding and ensuring that the cockroach control is successful.
