It is one of the most endangered species. Therefore, it became the symbol of a worldwide campaign to save the native species of the Brazilian forest. It's only 33 centimeters long, excluding the tail. It lives in the Atlantic Forest, mainly in the region of Rio de Janeiro. It eats insects and small vertebrates, as well as fruit. Likes to walk in the sunlight. The black-faced lion tamarin was discovered on Superagui Island, off the coast of Paraná, in 1990. Until then, its existence was unknown to scientists, despite the stories told by residents of the region.
