Girafa Pandinha turns 30 with a party at the Curitiba Zoo

Giraffe Pandinha, an illustrious resident of the Zoo in Curitiba, turns 30 this Wednesday (1st) and will win a party to celebrate her birthday, in Alto Boqueirão. The birthday girl, who is the oldest giraffe in the country, will receive a banana cake in an environmental enrichment activity.

Pandinha was the first animal of this species born at the Curitiba Zoo, in 1989, and is twice as old as it would live in the wild. The date coincides with the Labor Day holiday, and whoever takes the time to visit the Zoo will have a special program.

The special birthday cake will be delivered at 2 pm, during the activity that aims to stimulate the animal's movement and natural behavior. For children, there will be giraffe painting on their hands. The information and other activities take place during the operation of the conservation unit.

Visitors will also be made aware of the importance of giraffes. In 2016, they entered the list of animals threatened with extinction, prepared by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), in the 'vulnerable' category.
